The Children’s Musical Program provides an opportunity for the children of Ladera Ranch and surrounding communities to participate in musical theater. With the decline in funding for music and arts programs, this provides the community with a great outlet for our children to gain exposure to singing, acting, and the theater.
The program started in 2011 with performances of Peter Pan. Since then, performances have included Wizard of OZ, Willy Wonka Jr., Annie Jr., Grease Jr., Sound of Music, Shrek, Aladdin Jr., Seussical Jr, Beauty and the Beast Jr., and a reprise of Peter Pan.
A Fall and Spring production is held each year, with performances typically at the end of January and June. Each performance is approximately 2 hours long (with the exception of our youngest cast) and held at a local High School Theater. This is a full production including lighting, costumes, sets, and professional instruction.
South County Performing Arts (Web: http://www.southcountyperformingarts.com/; Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SouthCountyPerformingArts) coordinates and runs the program in support of the Ladera Ranch Education Foundation. Josh and Irene Vecchione are the directors of SCPA and have been long time supporters of the Ladera Ranch Community. The program has raised over $30,000, which has been used for arts education in our public schools and the LREF School Grant Program.
Currently, the program is preparing for February 2017 performances of Legally Blonde Jr. (ticket details at: http://www.southcountyperformingarts.com/tickets/).
